Items that need uploading. (Find requirements here.)

Postby Ajna on Tue Apr 03, 2007 1:03 pm

There were so many of these topics stickied, so I'm just making a new one. As of April 3rd, this is the only place you will post your items to be uploaded. Let's keep it simple. Post your items. Make sure they meet the requirements BEFORE you post them. Once posted, an admin will review it. If it's up to standards, your post will be deleted, the item added and finally sent to you. If not, the admin will delete your post, and send you a PM telling you exactly how to improve your item, if possible, and help you if you need any questions. Once you've improved your item, show that admin, and if s/he approves, you may post it in this topic again, for another admin's opinion.

Requirements for Items:

[spoiler]
We'd love for our members to get together and create items for the our character system, but we can't accept every item that is made. We don't mean to be mean. We just want a decent character system.

Hopefully this helps anyone with questions on the requirements.

-The image must be .PNG filetype with a translucent background. This means you can't make it with MS Paint, or something similar. If that's all you have, you can download GIMP, or ask for someone to help make the image translucent. Chances are though that it wont get added since the edges will be jagged.

-It must fit correctly on the base of the character without any adjustments, and the character can not be in the image. You can include another image of the item on the character as an example, if you'd like, but it's not required. Just the image is.

-Items must be one piece, even if it's part of a set. For example, if you do a schoolgirl outfit, you'll need to upload each piece of it. The skirt, the shirt, the socks, etc. Make sure they are in the correct places though. If you need help breaking your image up, use this:
http://www.catgirlz.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=20766

-Do not copy and paste items. Draw your own.

-Try to keep your lineart and coloring neat, with as smooth shading as you can do. We want the images to all look pretty similar. Having a jagged edge shirt with cell shading paired with smooth lined pants and soft shading would look bad.

-Only several colors of your item will be uploaded. We don't need 15 different colors of one item. Also, the more of each color is uploaded, the less you'll get of each color. For example:
If you make one color, you'll receive ~10 shirts.
Two colors will get you ~5 of both colors, equaling ~10.
Three colors will get you ~3 of each color.
Four colors will get you ~2 of each color, and so on.

If you can't seem to create an item that is up to par, you can always request items, or give artists ideas. You can work out some type of way where they pay you so-and-so for every item they sell that you gave them the idea for.

Also, there's the lovely FAQ that Minny made, found here: http://www.catgirlz.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=20874

With that being said, here are the bases: Image Image

For any further questions, feel free to PM any of the admins.

I made an item, a pet. I hope it is good enough to upload it. It was my first try to create an item. It's called Scar Kitty and it's for the male and the female character.

hm. really, it should be shaded, since everything else is. if you don't know how, i'll throw some shading on it and upload it tomorrow. it's great otherwise, and pretty freakin' cute.

Yes, please shade it. I tried it, but it looked quite ugly. So i leaves the shadows out.

Edit: Do you need a bigger version of this pic?

Here's the french Maid outfit. If the skirt with the Lingerie needs to be in a separate picture from the lingerie let me know.

The solid colors plus the pixel outline really ruins it.

Ok what should i do to fix that? Photoshop doesn't really give me anything different from normal colors and the pixel lines...i think.

the ones by ksy need to have a softer outline and softer colouring.

ksy, i think you're trying to say microsoft paint. if this is indeed your problem, you'll have to try downloading another piece of software. paint is not going to cut it for avatar items, unfortunately. try looking up open canvas 1.1 on google.

Nope i meant exactly what i said. Photoshop. I have CS2, and it's kinda fun to toy around with. Though I figured toning down the pencil tools point hardness and the opacity to 50% that might make the line softer.

avoid the pencil tool. use the brush. if you can't find the brush tool, click on the pencil and hold it down. the brush shaped tool should appear.
